32 economies, 95% of growth: the IMF's October 2026 outlook and what it means for India-facing capital
On 13 October 2026 the International Monetary Fund published its October World Economic Outlook, subtitled Resilience Under Strain, Urgent Choices. World growth for 2026 is 3.1%, back to the April figure after a 3.0% July update. Behind the stable aggregate the Fund says 32 economies now account for 95% of global growth, against 54 in April, and about 47% of economies were downgraded. India is projected at 7.0% for fiscal 2026/27, up 0.6 points on July, with oil assumed to average $96 a barrel. This note sets out the figures, the assumptions behind them and what the report does not say.
